The “Stay in Buy Box” screen is designed to maximize your time in the Buy Box with different repricing tactics and approaches, which are available in the Buy Box settings.

The strategies in Buy Box settings will determine how your price will react when you are in the Buy Box. This article will continue to delve into the purpose and functionality of each Setting.

Lower or Raise my Buy Box Price

mceclip0.png

This setting operates in two steps:

  1. Check if you are the lowest price. If you are not, this setting will lower your price by the specified amount.

  2. If you are the lowest price already, it will check if your price can be raised. If your price can be raised, then this setting will raise your price by the specified amount.
Example 1:
Competitor 1: $14.00
(Buy Box) You: $15.00
Competitor 2: $16

The setting will check if you are the lowest price. You are not, so it will lower your price.
The lowest-priced competitor is $14. You will be repriced to $13.99.

Example 2:
(Buy Box) You: $13.99
Competitor 1: $14.50
Competitor 2: $16.00

The setting will check if you are the lowest price. You are, so it will then check if your price can be raised. Competitor 1 raised their price, and the Buy Box Setting will allow you to follow the competition back up.
The next highest competitor is at $14.50. Your price will be raised to $14.49.

Example 3:
(Buy Box)You: $11.00
Competitor 1 (Non-Featured): $11.00
Competitor 2 (FBA): $11.00
Competitor 3 (FBA): $12.00

My Buy Box price is the lowest, and the next Buy Box eligible competitor is equal to it. We will reprice my Buy Box price with this formula:

Raise my Buy Box price to $0.01 below the competitor’s price = Competitor 2 - $0.01 = $11.00 - $0.01 = $10.99

Your newly adjusted price = $10.99

In this case, the new adjusted price will be lower than my Buy Box price.

This is a specific scenario where the system will comply with "Raise within" rule but actually lower your price to stay competitive.

When Repricing Central attempt to raise the Buy Box Price in an effort to increase the profit but the next higher Buy Box Eligible Competitor is equal to seller’s current Buy Box Price, the system will still target the seller with the same Buy Box price offer as the baseline and deduct a certain amount you set. Given this, the seller’s new Buy Box Price will be even lower than the current Buy Box Price.

If the system skipped the next Buy Box eligible competitor who offers the same price and targeted the next one with a higher offer than the current Buy Box Price, the system will anticipate a strong possibility of losing the Buy Box Position to the offer that was equal to our current Buy Box Price. In this case, the system will still target the next Buy Box eligible competitor who offers the same price as the user’s current Buy Box Price.

Raise my Buy Box Price to Maximize Profit

mceclip0.png

When you are in the Buy Box, it will adjust Your Price to a cent less than your next competitor (i.e. Competitor's Price - 0.01). This is meant to maximize your profit margins.

Example 1:
Competitor 1: $14.00
(Buy Box) You: $15.00
Competitor 2: $16.00

Your closest competitor is selling at $16.00. Your Price will be raised to $15.99.

Example 2:
Competitor 1 (FBA): $10.00
Buy Box(You): $11.00
Competitor 2 (Non-Featured): $11.00
Competitor 3 (FBA): $11.00

Competitor 3 is the next Buy Box eligible competitor, who equal to my Buy Box price, the system will reprice my Buy Box price with this formula:

Raise my Buy Box price to Competitor's Price- $0.01 = Competitor 3 - $0.01 = $11.00 - $0.01 = $10.99

Your newly adjusted price = $10.99

In this case, the new adjusted price will be lower than my Buy Box price.

Example 2 demonstrates the situation where the next Buy Box eligible competitor is equal to the user’s current Buy Box Price.  Because of that, the new Buy Box Price adjustment will be lower than the current Buy Box Price to stay in a competitive position.

When Adjusted Price is above Max Price

If the Buy Box Settings would have raised your price beyond the Max Price, use this setting to choose the response for this scenario.

Lower my Buy Box Price to stay competitive

mceclip1.png

This will find the lowest price, and adjust Your Price to one cent less (i.e. Competitor's Price - 0.01). This is a very aggressive strategy meant to keep you in the Buy Box rotation for as long as possible.

Example:
Competitor 1: $14.00
(Buy Box) You: $15.00
Competitor 2: $16.00

You are in the Buy Box even though you don't have the lowest price. The lowest price is $14.00. Your Price will be lowered to $13.99.

Do not change my Buy Box price

When you're in the Buy Box, no repricing will occur.

Disable Buy Box Settings
